Location: Kamalganj, Sreemangal, Bangladesh Lead Consultant: Asif Zaman Typology: Eco-Luxury Hospitality Design Studio: Zyro Design Studio
The site is defined by its dramatic contours, ancient tea fields, and a central, serene natural water body. Architect Asif Zaman adopted a philosophy of minimal intervention, mapping the structures along the natural lines of the landscape to eliminate extensive earth-cutting. By preserving existing water tables and mature vegetation, the layout treats the native flora and the lake not merely as visual backdrops, but as core functional elements. The natural lake serves a dual purpose, functioning both as a therapeutic visual anchor for the resort and a crucial node for microclimate regulation.
Nestled within the undulating, emerald landscape of Kamalganj in Sreemangal—the tea capital of Bangladesh—the Amberwood Tea & Lake Resort stands as a testament to contextual architectural excellence. Commissioned as an ultra-luxury eco-tourism destination, the project is envisioned by Lead Design Consultant Asif Zaman and his team at Zyro Design Studio. The primary vision is to weave a seamless narrative between human habitation and the pristine natural ecosystem, creating an exclusive sanctuary that honors the site's rich cultural heritage and breathtaking topography.
"The architecture does not compete with the tea estates of Sreemangal; instead, it bows to them, borrowing their forms, textures, and rhythms to create a dialogue between structure and earth."
